I wonder if I really understood the concept of milestones.. I mean, why should a milestone be assigned to someone? Should this someone be responsible to make sure the tasks in this milestone assigned to other people will be done in the due time?

I think a milestone is more of a goal for development and someone can be assigned the role of program or release manager for that particular milestone. But maybe I misunderstand the concept too.
I agree with you, Sunil. The milestone can be assigned to a project manager, while the tasks that achieve the milestone might each be assigned to different developers.
