and the developer community. As an independent open source project we are not bound to any company, any kind of technology or any license model.
bettercodes.org will enable developers to find relevant information easily using powerful search and developer-specific social-networking tools to run and
manage their projects with friends from all over the world. Most importantly we want to make this fun for everyone involved. And that is why we listen to
all your feedback and incorporate as much of it into the community as is reasonable, as soon as we can.

Our focus is on ensuring that you can focus on your code and not fight with the site. Since bettercodes.org is a journey without a »fixed destination«,
we want you to have fun along the way. Hence we put no limitations on additional functionality via plugins or any forcible direction. Our only requirement
is that all plugins should be either fun or valuable for developers.
The vision of bettercodes.org is to someday become a place for the best developers in the world. We are still growing up and we might fall down a few times.

We want to build the most comprehensive environment for the collaborative development of software. Our vision is to offer a broad set of useful tools to all developers
that they run easily their development project or participate in existing projects. We started with a basic project management and added a free code hosting (based on SVN and GIT).
But we expect for the future much more to come. Our aim is to integrate online tools and software engineering practices that help to ease the development work over the whole cycle
like code quality analysis, ...
We will also collaborate with researchers from computer science departments to offer them a place where they can apply new approaches and concepts for online software development
and collaborate with the bettercodes.org community on those new methods. Expect interesting things to come!
Host your code with the freedom of choice
bettercodes.org offer free-of-charge code hosting based on different soultions like SVN or GIT
bettercodes.org provides a free code hosting for all projects. And we want to give the choice of the right or preferred code hosting solution to
each of the project teams. Therefore we integrated different standard soltions to host your code. We start with SVN and GIT, but due to our plugin
approach it is easy to add additional code hosting and subversioning solutions to the project management plug-in.
All repositories are hosted in the backend on Amazon Web Service in their Simple Storage Solutions (S3).
They provide 99.999999999% durability of your data and nothing will ever get lost. We connected this solution with our web server
(Amazon Instances with backup ECB) so you can login into your repositories with your bettercodes.org credentials.
Your changes are handed over to the S3 on a secure connection.
Exchange your knowledge and experiences
bettercodes.org is about exchanging and improving knowledge and experiences
Improving your personal knowledge and capabilities is foremost about conversions. Within bettercodes.org you can share your knowledge and experiences in different ways.
We started with member-created groups regarding a broad spectrum of developer topic. We integrated a place where you can post your code snippets share them or get feedback on them.
Or we have a questions and answers section where you can post short-term questions and ask the community for the right answer.
But this is just the beginning. Thru our open source approach we expect new ideas and ways how to exchange knowledge and experiences from all members.
We are open and ready to integrate new features and ways to exchange and improve the personal knowledge and experiences of every single developer.
We hope that we all together will find new and innovative ways which we can’t imagine today.
